LITTLE BY LITTLE, A LITTLE BECOMES A LOT.

Welcome to the Gobbler 5k!

We are so glad you are here!

This event is a 5k run on Thanksgiving morning to raise money for local families in need! And we would love your support!

There are lots of different ways that you can help. Any purchase you make on this site for registration, purchasing merchandise or buying raffle tickets will go to the families in need. We have no paid employees of this charity, everything is completely volunteer so you know your money is all going to the recipient families.

We also take donations for the families. We accept raffle items that can generate ticket sales as well as cash, check or Venmo donations that go directly to the families. Local businesses sponsor this event every year to help us raise as much as we can.

A family or multiple families are chosen each year to be the recipients of this cause. There are always so many people who need support and it is amazing to see our community rally around our own and help them get through cancer, disease and many other hardships.

Thank you for visiting! We hope you enjoy your stay!

MEET THE GOBBLER RECIPIENTS FROM 2020:

ABOUT THE FAMILIES

The Websters

Tracy and Alicia met in high school have been together for 21 years . Alicia is from Vernal and Tracy moved from Heber in '86. They have made Vernal their home. Their children, Karsen (19), Reagan (18) and Bransen (15) love to spend time in the mountains together four wheeling, fishing and camping.  This family spends time together supporting our community and building people up. Alicia is an RN at UBTech and Tracy is a mechanic at Deseret Power but has been unable to work since February.

In March of this year, Tracy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Gastric Adenocarcinoma (stomach cancer).  His current treatment is chemotherapy every 2 weeks and these treatments will continue throughout his life.  His cancer is non-curable but the hope is to get him on a maintenance dose of chemo that will continue indefinitely.

The Websters mantra is to always learn something from difficult times or stressful situations. They have said “We are learning what is truly important in life: family, friends, being kind, and serving others.”

As a community we have the amazing opportunity to rally around the Webster's in support during this hard time. This truly kind and grateful family are well deserving and in need of our efforts this holiday season! Let's come together as a community and race for the Websters!

ABOUT THE FAMILIES

The Bowdens

"We found a football sized tumor that is cancerous. We will be sending you out to Primary’s tonight. She needs surgery.”⁣

Can you imagine what her mom and dad felt when the doctors gave them this news? I don’t think that anyone can really understand unless they have been through it.

Kristin and Dakota are both from Vernal and have made this their home with their two kids. They love Vernal and are so happy here!

However, this past March, little Lula Beth was diagnosed with stage 2 wilms kidney cancer. At 3 years old, this cute little girl started one of the hardest battles anyone can go through. They battled as a family through 13 rounds of Chemo and now Lula Beth is cancer free! But we all know that the battle is never over.  While Lula Beth is currently in remission, there will be many more physical and financial struggles for this family! She will have to undergo frequent testing, scans and checks for at least the next 5 years not to mention re-growing her hair and recovering from the trauma of cancer and the long term effects of medical bills.

Just because we hear the words “remission” and “cancer free,” it doesn’t mean the struggles magically disappear. We all know how much visits to the hospital cost. Lets help this cute family recover both emotionally and financially!  Run for little Lula Beth and her family!
